George Lucas – The Most Frugal Storyteller of All Time
It is being reported that George Lucas’ Industrial Light and Magic is in the process of converting “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace” into 3D. The new 3D version will arrive in the theaters in 2012.
[The 2012 release] will be followed in the stereoscopic format by the five other movies set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. (L.A. Times)
Despite what some critics may say about George Lucas, he is the only director in the history of cinema to extract so much value and money from a single story. He has released Star Wars in as many mediums as there are available. And if he is as smart a businessman as he seems to be we will soon see the Star Wars story in Egyptian hieroglyphs, as well as petroglyphs, to be followed by a stop-motion animation version directed by Tim Burton.

I won’t be watching it, as it wasn’t that great the first six times…
Next he’ll do it with Lego block characters… oh,wait
I think the Tim Burton version would be AWESOME. Johnny Depp as Luke Skywalker.
Johnny Depp as Han Solo
Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Leia???
Star Wars musical?
johnny depp as every male character
^OF COURSE
I guess he’ ll do the Avatar trick and bring it out in 3D, leave it a couple of months and then go “Wait a minute, I have some extra footage of Han Solo getting head off of Chewbacca! Now that would be great in 3D too!!!” leading to rereleases of all six with 2.654 seconds of “extra footage”…
Heh, I like how the footage thing is a bit phallic…
Hmm…pay $20 to see a movie I have seen a seventeen times but wait now as many D’s as it takes to give me a headache which happens to be 3D’s. Or catch it on cable on a holiday weekend in my PJ’s and fuzzy slippers eating cereal out of the box for free. Sorry Lucas we are in a recession and unless the theaters start serving Trix I am staying home.
