Movie Review: The Blind Side

Written by The Sarcasmist on November 20, 2009 - Comments (32)

The Blind SideThe Blind Side is a feel-good story about how great white people can be when they really want to. The story is about a white rich woman (Sandra Bullock) who adopts an African American high school student (sorry I couldn’t find the guys name anywhere) and makes him a success by helping him bulldoze people on the football field.

This is yet another wonderful example of how a black kid can achieve great things if only he has the support of a hot white woman.

Bullock: “He’s changing mine.” (in response to “You’re changing that boy’s life.”

With writing like that Sandra Bullock is sure to win an Oscar; in fact that is the buzz around Hollywood. I can’t wait to see the speeches about how we have moved beyond race and are on the brink of becoming a utopian society.

  1. Your Mother´s Keeper

    I lol’ed.

  2. How about a movie where a white person TRIES to help another person of an ethnic minority, but instead gets turned down, beat up or robbed? Im not at all saying thats reality, i just think its time we saw a movie where white folks failed, miserably.

    • white people HAVE failed miserably, 1: in every effort to elevate primitives to a higher degree of evolution, and 2: by lowering ourselves to their level by legitimizing and embracing their primitivity out of liberal guilt and laziness.

  3. It’s a wonderful movie and I wish many more of the black race and all other races could come to the table with as much to offer as he did in real life. It’s not about being racist anymore but about being lazy and somebody owes me something because of some excuse I can come up with and hopefully it will fly. What ever happened to we are responsible for our own futures and what can we contribute to the rest of humanity?

    • I want to know what being rich has to do with anything? More importantly what is the meaning of rich? To me being wealthy, successful and rich is based on what you have done with your life, how you have lived your life, and how much you have accomplished in terms of family and friends. I can die with millions and alone or I can die broke with many friends and a big family full of love and memories. I’ll take the second senario any day but if I can have some funds from the first………..it will make the second more fun!!!!!! My you all have a heart full of warm thoughts this thanksgiving and feel the success of whatever you have accomplished knowing that having people that love you is success in it’s deepest sense.

    • “What ever happened to we are responsible for our own futures and what can we contribute to the rest of humanity?”—
that ended when people are born into absolute poverty, in a society with few ways out, while others are born with silver spoons (or feet) in their mouths, never having to work to acheive anything. If you really think we all start out with an equal chance, you are basically delusional.

    • Sorry, Rebecca, I was wondering if you could go over these again with me. I was wanting to know if you meant to say what these imply:

“To me being wealthy, successful and rich is based on what you have done with your life, how you have lived your life, and how much you have accomplished in terms of family and friends.”

“I’ll take the second senario any day but if I can have some funds from the first………..it will make the second more fun!!!!!!”

  4. Didn’t Goldie Hawn already do this movie? And Ken Howard, too?

  5. His name is Michael Oher and he plays for the Baltimore Ravens.

  6. Robert Samuelson

you know what – at first I was a little upset. Rich white woman helpin out the poor helpless black boy… BUT! Stereotypes aside, reality being reality (not “reality” as in “reality TV”) Isn’t this just a wealthy person helping an unfortunate person? The racial injection simply an act of the critic? Remove race from the movie – they are PEOPLE in the movie. Aren’t YOU the racist for chastising the creators when you turn 2 people into a rich white woman and poor black boy? They are people – get on with life and quit looking for blame.

  7. Why is it these upbringing stories always involve either a black man, a retard, or both?

  8. The guy’s name is Michael Oher. He played for the Baltimore Ravens.

  9. Robert Samuelson

Why is it all (but maybe 1 or 2) black comedian’s bit’s are always about race…. hmmm…. Let’s move on – people are people. We couldn’t possibly allow White Entertainment Television (WET, like BET), now could we….

Make the best of the life you have and don’t be an a-hole to other people regardless of who they are “statistically.”

    • Um, we HAVE White Entertainment Television – everything else that isn’t BET. None of it’s good. Anyway, the point is that feel-good movies make me a little queasy.

    • in britain there’s a woman only car insurance
company. if i started a male only insurance firm i’d be lynched by the P.C. brigade. we have the Music of Black Origin awards as well. that smacks of racism to me. shame it has to be boxed off like that.

    • we do have wet its called ABC, NBC,CBS, FOX. Sacrasam aside this world is sort of shifted to “promote” white ideals. BET was created bc there is not quality programing on the other networks repping people of color.

  10. how exactly did a sarcastic review of a movie that everyone has seen before turn into a cue for racist remarks and insulting the poor? also, i’d like to add that the rich, white lady’s fake southern accent bothers me.
