GOP: Earth Center of The Universe
The GOP launches a probe into the theory that the planet Earth is not the center of the Universe. A key GOP senator is questioning the validity of Copernicus’ heliocentric cosmology. The probe claims that the visual inspection of the movement of the Sun in the sky clearly demonstrates that the Sun is in fact moving around the earth (along with the stars) as opposed to the Earth orbiting the Sun. The probe also seeks to try Copernicus in absentia for blasphemy.
The Vatican, having learned of this development, made a statement:
The Catholic Church believes that it is of utmost importance for humanity to learn of its past mistakes and to look forward when faced with challenges and difficulties, instead of regressing into old ways and appealing to fear and ignorance.
The GOP is now accusing The Vatican of heresy.

Hahaha! This is hilarious. Can’t wait for the usual comments from people who don’t understand the sarcasm…… 8)
Wait…
I thout I was the center of the Univers!
You must be an Aries :)
LOVE the quote from the Vatican.
This is fantastic. Kudos sarcasmist.
ahahaha.. love it.. =)
I’m somehow lost as to what this is referring to…I can usually pick out what its making fun of but I must have missed something in recent news…
Sorry Lucas, but Im thinking its more like you missed something in your astronomy class… or life; take your pick.
its implying that the catholic church regresses in old ways and appeals to fear and ignorance.
sorry, Lux.
You thought wrong. I AM the center of the Universe.
(Agree with you, Ben… the bad thing about being the first to comment is not seeing all the stupidity people will write after you…)
Stop! No scientific advances under my watch!
this is more irony than sarcasm imo…
Irony is when something happens that is the opposite of what you expect. Many people would not be surprised at all if the GOP did this. It is therefore not irony.
Alex, Alex… Did you get that The Sarcasmist is sarcastic? And that those commenting on it might ALSO be sarcastic (or ironic, it’s a close call sometimes)? Now I think you should read Lucas’ comment again and really think about what he says…
technically, sarcasm is a form of verbal irony…
Not necessarily. Sarcasm can be in the form of an exaggeration, in which case it probably wouldn’t be ironic.
Nicely done. I suppose the last one was just an off day… Much better this time.
