A U.S. study of men and women suffering from cancer has revealed that “women are six times more likely to end up separated or divorced if they are diagnosed with cancer or multiple sclerosis than if their male partners were facing the same illness.” (Reuters)
There is obviously a scientific explanation for this. It can’t possibly be the case that men are just selfish bastards who run at the first sign of inconvenience. If this study is to have any credibility it should include an explanation of why men act in such a douche bag fashion.
The researchers said the reason men leave a sick spouse can be partly explained by their inability to rapidly adjust to becoming a caregiver and to look after the home and family. (Reuters)
Bravo! I knew it. It’s not the man’s fault for leaving; they just cannot adjust in time in order to not act like a jackass. It is just what evolution dictates.
Longer marriages were likely to remain more stable but the older the woman, the more likely the partnership would end. (Reuters)
A word of advice to women: If you are going to develop cancer, do it while you are young.

Are they kidding? I find these findings utterly disgusting in their obvious bias against men.
Is it not enough that husbands must endure the slings & arrows of a wife ignoring the children by going out to work all day and then coming home to cook, clean, do the washing-up, etc., not to mention foisting upon them this new-fangled, so-called “P.M.S.”? And on top of this, when she chooses to get cancer, what? – bring him his pipe and slippers looking most unappealing with no make-up and her hair falling out from chemo or some other lame excuse?
No wonder men are forced to flee such atrocity and seek out a nice, trophy wife. Stop the insanity, I say!
Haha, you my friend, are a sarcasmic genius! (let’s see how many people tell me the correct word is sarcastic).
I do hope your being sarcastic, there… When they CHOOSE to get cancer?
Id like to see a man NOT get pissy when he has to bleed for a quarter of the month, too.
to Britical: I assume you are being sarcastic… ”chooses to get cancer” ???
If not…
I take it you are single then…
As far as I can see from your post if that is actually your opinion, you have never had actual contact with a living, breathing woman.
Have fun with that.
I am really trying to understand how that sarcasm could have missed you. I really don’t think it could have been more obvious. Read it again, everything he/she said was pretty obvious sarcasm.
@Meg
I just wet my pants a little reading your reply.
Cancer is a choice, isn’t it? Like, homosexuality and PMS?
hahahahaha wow… i really hope you who have not noticed the sarcasm in the comment are being sarcastic yourselves… because if not this is a sad, sad world we live in.
… now that is just sad. oh well.
maybe i should have a competition with my boyfriend. whoever gets cancer first LOSES! :p
seriously though. if my boyfriend leaves me for being ill, he’d probably never make it home. >:)
Britical, your comment is brilliant and oozing sarcasm. To all of you who didn’t get it, maybe you are a little bit douchey yourselves!
Hey, We’re not douche bags; We’re just lazy, selfish, and demanding.
I bet all the men they spoke to said something about not coping being a caregiver or whatever but in their heads they were going ’she’s bald, she’s bald, she’s bald…’
lol! so true
