Only allow lipsticks without lead in your kids diet

LipstickA new study by the Food and Drug Administration has found that 400 lipsticks currently on the market had traces of lead.

“The small amount of lead exposure especially in young children, developing brains in young children, can cause a problem and the main problem it can cause is development of that brain,” Dr. John said. “Essentially, they start having problems in language development, with math development, those types of things. It doesn’t take much lead for that to happen; but again, these lead levels are very, very small. I wouldn’t be too concerned using it on a casual basis, but if it’s something they are playing with on a daily basis, or they are ingesting or eating it, then stay away from that.” (USA Today)

Dr. John’s advice is very helpful—parents should make sure to not allow their young children to use lipsticks containing lead more than a couple of times a week, and only allow their children to eat lipsticks that do not have any lead in them. Seems like common sense, but sometimes even basic stuff like this needs to be said.

  1. I will go ahead and assume that Dr. John was thinking of – talking to all those parents that got so very worried and were ready before done reading the article to go to the hospital or their private doctor and drag their children with them because their kid(s) happen to accidentally eat lipstick (yesterday, few months ago, few years ago) and they now feel sooo guilty etc. etc. and what he said could also be used as a precautionary tale for parents to be etc:)

  2. I come here only to read the nightingale’s comments. She’s so pretty I have tears in my eyes.

  3. sounds like someone had way too much lipstick as a kid
