Legal Costume Upsets Illegal Immigrants

It has recently come to the Sarcasmist’s attention that there are vile profiteers who are trying to legally profit from the controversy surrounding illegal aliens in the United States. These ‘businessmen’ have designed a Halloween costume that is making illegal aliens feel bad.

The vitriolic impact that freedom of speech and expression is having on illegal aliens in the United States is gut-wrenching. When will the citizens of this country start thinking about the impact their behavior is having on the illegal aliens?

Guillermo Iglesias [the director of communications for CHIRLA (The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles)] said both of his parents were illegal immigrants in the United States. He felt the costumes were offensive because they depicted illegal immigrants as “not one of us.”

“I have a lot of illegal immigrant friends,” said Iglesias. “If I showed them that costume, it would really hurt them.” (CNN)

Have you people no heart? These costumes can “really hurt” people’s feelings. You bastards!

Also, Guillermo, we suggest that you not show the costume to your illegal alien friends.

  1. haha kudos

    • They want our jobs, they want our lives, hell now they want our emotions.. Boo freaking hoo.. as far as I am concerned, they can go back to where they came from.. If they worked as hard at rebuilding their own country as they do at trying to bring ours down, they could stay there and not have to worry about pity parties because the U.S. has a sense of humor..

    • um, what do you think the illegal aliens do when they are in our country you ignoramous? construction work comes to mind. how is that tearing down the country?

    • I truly love people who have nothing to do but argue on some blog of an illegal alien costume (that is quite funny; yes, I am a proponent. Deport me). Go ahead, blast me. I won’t be back here anyway.

    • Annie, you are an idiot. If you had a glimmer of an idea of what the United States has done to countries around the world just so you can buy your cheaply made yet overpriced $100 Nikes, you would be singing a different tune. Thanks to NAFTA, the World Bank, and the IMF, 3rd world countries have no choice but to let the US and other industrialized countries into their country for work. And no, they cannot enforce labor laws, environmental protections laws, healthcare or ANYTHING in order to protect their people or else these businesses up and leave to target some other poor country. Soooo, it’s making 10 cents a day sewing your crappy shoes (cause Nike sucks!) or making less than minimum wage here to feed their families. What would you do? I doubt you’d think trekking through the desert to try to survive somewhere would be your idea of a walk in the park. And I doubt Economic Refugees think it is either.

    • So Angie, you think that we should spend our effort and, not to metion, money on fixing their problems? Before we worry about them, we should worry about us.

    • “BUY AMERICAN”

    • When I am in Mexico, I sometimes eat ‘Negritos’ … does that make me racist? … even if I am in Mexico when I do it? But I try to speak espanol, so maybe that makes up for it… but there are plenty of stupid Americans in Mexico (who have lived there for years) who still can’t speak more than a sentence or two- enough to get a beer. And then there are the toutists who I often overhear saying, “Why don’t these people learn to speak English!” (I am speechless)
However, the kids in the neighborhood call me ‘Gringa’ – are they being racist, too?

The image of an afro-wearing character on a chocolate-themed Mexican product line has its own racially fraught precedent. I found an older (undated) example of Bimbo packaging that showed the “negrito” as he once was: smiling, dancing, wearing a straw skirt and holding a spear

  2. To be honest, Im not concerned with their feelings.
Maybe if they paid their taxes, I would feel differently.

    Don’t take this as bigotry.

    • it’s an invisible line were crucifying them for idiots

    • Chris, I completely agree! If you cannot vote and cannot pay taxes, you have NO right to bitch about being mocked!

    • Chris,
Illegals who work for legal companies *do* pay their taxes. They pay more than their share of taxes. Because they have WITHHOLDING and FICA taken out of their pay, just like the rest of us.

But since they can’t file for a refund at the end of the year, and they can’t file for Social Security, they don’t get anything back. So they’re paying extra. Nobody mentions that. We’re all actually making a little extra money off of them.

That’s if they work for an employer who tries to do things legally. If they’re working for an illegal employer who knows he’s hired an illegal, who pays in cash and doesn’t take care of FICA and Withholding, then who is being illegal: the person who works hard all day, or the person who doesn’t pay them properly and pockets the difference?

If they were all paying their taxes, they’d still pi$$ you off somehow, wouldn’t they?

    • while that is well said dmajor, that brings up the conundrum of “do people deserve a say if they can’t be arsed to change things” I mean, they gain SO much for the simple process of applying for citizenship or atleast a green card/visa/whatever, so if they don’t want to have that or to be within the law, then why should they get special treatment, we make fun of everyone.

and the fact that they shouldn’t complain about it because it’s like admitting they’re breaking the law. we can make fun of pedo’s without them complaining. we can stereotype muggers as homeless idiots and druggies as hippies or blabbering junkies, and nobody complains. basically, if you take offence to stereotyping or mocking of a criminal, then it’s generally pretty obvious that you are one of them and should be arrested. either take the punishment of mockery, let yourself get caught, or don’t break the fuggin law

    • Chris, as Dmajor pointed out they do pay taxes. Day Laborers don’t pay employment taxes usually; however there are many forms of taxes, as I’m sure you’d be happy to hear about. For example there’s sales tax, which is incurred every time they buy things, but we all know Mexicans don’t buy anything so we can scratch that one off the list. There’s also sin taxes (like taxes on tobacco and alcohol) and every Mexican loves a bottle of tequila almost as much as a black person loves a 40 and a bucket of chicken, so score one for the might US government there! Unfortunately the Mexicans are paying in money for the rest of the bottom feeders of America to use up, damn them! Besides I understand why they get mad about these constumes, they are just plumb offensive! As a matter of a fact I had my step mother tell me last year that the withces costume I was wearing was demeaning to her people. I can’t decide if it was my wearing a skirt or the fact that I was portraying her that upset her the most.

    • Chris, I agree.
      Dmajor, I disagree.
Just because the work for a company here doesn’t mean they pay taxes. There are hundreds of reported incidents of stolen social security numbers being used by the illegal immigrant community to obtain work. In reporting their income they can claim as many dependants as they want, or even exempt. At the end of the year, the IRS comes after the rightful social security number holder, NOT the illegal using the number and there’s no way to track who they are or where they are. SO – they don’t pay taxes, they don’t pay their medical portions, they don’t pay for their kid’s school, they don’t pay their portion of welfare… need I go on?

    • To “Dmajor”…okay let’s say they DO pay their taxes, could they be bothered, after moving to this English speaking country, to learn more than 5 words of English, while they are here? I’m sorry, & this isn’t JUST about Mexicans…but if you going to move here, then learn the freakin language! If I moved to Italy, or Russia, or any of a 1,000 other places, I would if staying there for a good amount of time, be expected to learn their spoken/written language…would I not???

  3. really? get over it. Just friggin get over it. Live your life and have a damn sense of humor.

  4. You have GOT to be kidding me????? You are, right???? OMG, this country was founded on so many things that are being taken away from people who are coming to this country. If you don’t like it, don’t bother coming here. If you’re here and want to stay, get the paperwork and pay the taxes just like the rest of us!!

    • YES!!! Lisa. Well put!!

    • can you tell me what illegal immigrants are taking from you?

    • Ignorant fucktard… do you know how long it takes to get a green card?? try 16 years, in the mean time they should do like rednecks and feed off of welfare and other government money… you don’t know what these people go through. Personally i find the costume hilarious, and would wear it myself… but the ignorant blatant discrimination coming from your end is just infuriating… when you can survive without sucking uncle sam’s dick one way or another, than please talk about how these people should live…. ignorant fucktard

    • What are illegals taking from us? Who pays for their medical care, not to mention childbirth and so forth. Certainly not them, so it must be us! Who pays to educate their children? Who pays for everything that has to be in Spanish these days? It’s certainly not free to provide all essential communication in 2 languages is it? We pay!

    • Yeah yeah, just get your paperwork done. You obviously dont know how hard it is for a person to just get their papers done. Dont be ignorant, look it up. Besides immigrants do pay taxes. Because it helps them get their residency or papers when they have a chance

    • To Jan:
Dont be stupid everyone pays. Immigrants pay more even for college, just because you got financial aid doesnt mean everyone does. we pay for our kids medical expenses… We are not here for free. If we were the economy would be really fucked up

  5. Excellent…Where can I get one of those costumes?

  6. I think it’s funny, personally.

What, costumes making fun of fat people, and steriotypical “pimps” aren’t offensive, either? Look, I can see where people can be offended by this, but it’s only a humorous piece of latex. Learn to take a joke, people. We’ve got more messed up things in this world to worry about than some seasonal costume.

  7. Seriously? I don’t really care how an illegal immigrant feels about this costume. They shouldn’t be here in the first place. Either get a green card or quit your bitching. Until then, get me a taco.

    • You are amazing. Marry me.

    • Bitching,bitching,bitching!! can we all just get along is a f%@# costume…
meanwhile con queso i’ll get your taco and you fetch me a burger!

    • Unless you’re a foxy lady, choondooga, I don’t think it would work out.

M, you got a deal! Would you like it “con queso”? lol.

    • How come everyone says just get a green card or leave? You are a dumbass. Its not that easy. go get the taco your self and stop being so ignorant.

    • First of all, I didn’t say get a green card or leave. I said “get a green card or quit your bitching.” I honestly don’t care if they’re here or not, but if they’re here illegally than they aren’t protected by the rights of our constitution. So if they’re offended, that’s their own problem. I don’t want to hear about it.

And I am sure that the process to obtain a green card is a lot easier than constantly being on the lookout, and fearing Immigration Services. Sure it’s a ton of paperwork, but if they really want to be here they should do it. If not, well I have no sympathy for them.

The taco comment was only to bring a little humor into my statement. I am in no way ignorant. Get a sense of humor, you trolling moron.

  8. These people getting insulted are as stupid as those Caveman getting insulted by the Geico commercials… get a grip on life people!!

  9. WooHoo!!!

If the illegal immigrants are offended, they can take their funky arses back to their countries of ORIGIN and then apply to be here LEGALLY!

Besides that, there is nothing in the Constitution that even hints that one has the right to NOT be offended.

    • Why don’t you think about who was here in this country first dumbass. I’m pretty sure you can trace your country of origin back to Europe. So why don’t you go back to YOUR country of origin?

    • Remember all those old tales of Ellis Island and the authorities changes European’s names? That’s because they were entering America LEGALLY. If illegals, no matter where they are from, Mexico, Canada, Poland whatever, if they just did they paper work, diligently tried to learn English and got a SSN then there woldn’t be these stupid problems. The real problem with illegal immigrants is that criminals come to this country, too. Those are the people we don’t want here.

    • Anonymous… STFU.

First off, the assumption that we’re all white is in and of itself racist.

Second: Yes, it is true that American white people’s ANCESTORS came from Europe. What’s your point? They are here LEGALLY now.

Illegal immigrants left their country because they were unhappy there. They come here, and try to change US to suit THEIR needs/wants… Why don’t they try to change their OWN country and leave us alone???

    • First of all anonymous, I was born in the U.S. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but that makes the U.S. my country of origin. However, my ancestery does go back to Europe. In fact, my parents are both Irish immigrants. But (now try to keep up here) they actually came over here the legal way! What a shocker!! It’s possible to get into this country without breaking the law!

  10. Ok, I can understand their feelings have been hurt. How about for every costume we take off the shelves one of them goes back to Mexico, then my feelings, wallet, Social Security, and health care won’t be hurt.
