XXX TLD – Making Porn Easy to Find
ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, has finally approved the dot-XXX TLD (top level domain) for pornographic websites.
ICM Registry, the company that proposed the dot-XXX domain, welcomed the vote.
“It’s been a long time coming,” ICM Chairman Stuart Lawley said in a statement, adding that he is “excited” by the move. (PC World)
This is a great move by ICANN; it will benefit both the porn distributor as well as he porn consumer. The porn distributors will be able to acquire a prominent web address, and users will know that every time they type in any word with dot-XXX after it they’ll end up at a website that has what they are looking for, without having to resort to search engines. What’s more, it helps journalists use sexual puns without shame.

It will aslo be easy to block on family computers I guess.

It’s all about being able to easily block xxx, not about being “easy to find”. It’s of course also about making lots of money as everyone pays massive amounts to buy xxx names they already have as other TLDs. But unless a law pushes ALL xxx content onto xxx names, it won’t make non xxx names any safer. So yeah … grampsngirlies.net still won’t be about spending quality time with the family.
